HOUSTON – Noble Energy Inc. has confirmed plans to resume exploration drilling offshore the Falkland Islands next year, starting with a well on the Humpback prospect in the Fitzroy sub-basin of the company’s Southern Area license.

This is one of numerous stacked fan prospects clustered together in the sub-basin, with gross resource potential estimated around 1 Bboe.

Noble expects to start drilling in mid-2015, dependent on the rig’s arrival. It is also finalizing locations for a second exploration well later in 2015 following results at Humpback.

However, the company has deemed the Scotia well, drilled in 2012 based on 2D seismic interpretation, non-commercial following evaluation of new 3D data and full integration of well results into geologic models.
